In 2014, mobile web traffic overtook desktop for the first time. In 2015, mobile search will overtake desktop again. Due to the explosive growth of mobile devices, web design has had to adapt. Historically, when you wanted a website, you simply developed your site to work on major desktop browsers and went about your business. If you had a mobile audience, you would build a separate mobile site where mobile users were redirected to. This page was usually a simpler, less feature-rich version of your main site. For many years, this met the needs for many businesses.
